Preserving and Sharing Buddha Dharma

Connection and Support

Membership and Community

Kharchu Centre Australia is more than a place of learning and practice - it is a welcoming community of practitioners, supporters, volunteers, and friends who share an interest in the Buddha Dharma and the well-being of others.

Launch Priority

Community Participation Before the Visit

This page will help visitors understand how membership supports the life of the centre, strengthens community connection, and prepares a stable welcoming base for future teachings and special visits.

Overview

Originally envisioned during Kyabje Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche's early visits to Australia, our community has grown to include more than 200 members and supporters across the country.

Whether you are new to Buddhism or have many years of experience, we warmly invite you to participate in our activities and become part of our growing community.

Why Become a Member

Kharchu Centre Australia was established not for commercial gain, but to serve society by preserving, upholding, and sharing the teachings of the Buddha Dharma.

As a non-profit organisation, membership helps support our ongoing activities, programmes, resident teachers, and the long-term development of our centres and facilities.

By becoming a registered member, you can enjoy a closer connection with the community and receive additional support and information, including:

  • Regular Updates: stay informed about upcoming events, teachings, retreats, and community activities.
  • Priority Notifications: receive advance notice of major events, special teachings, and visits by Kyabje Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche.
  • Access to Monastic Services: request spiritual services, daily prayer recitations, and traditional Zhabs-rim, or Rites of Aid, for both the living and the deceased through our resident Khenpos or the parent monastery in Bhutan.
  • Dharma Connection: develop a deeper connection with the Sangha community while helping to support and sustain the Buddha Dharma in Australia.

Ways to Participate

The continued growth and success of Kharchu Centre Australia depend upon the collective efforts of its members, volunteers, committee, and supporters.

There are many ways to become involved:

  • Attend Events and Teachings: join Dharma teachings, guided meditation sessions, retreats, prayer gatherings, and sacred lunar observances throughout the year.
  • Volunteer Your Time: offer your skills and experience to support the Centre through event organisation, hospitality, property maintenance, gardening, administration, and other community activities.
  • Support Special Projects: contribute your knowledge, professional expertise, or resources to assist ongoing initiatives and future development projects.
  • Become a Member: register as a member and help provide the ongoing support necessary for the sustainable operation and development of the Centre.
